This is an activity based on Ben Chu’s tweet, which you can read ‘unrolled’ here, and which refers to his article in The Independent, dated 11/3/21, entitled ‘Is test and trace really the most wasteful public spending programme ever?’


It contains 6 cards, each with a different government project on, asks students to rank and group them in various ways before deciding what the key lessons are. You can draw out discussions on all sorts, including the Economic Problem, real and nominal figures, policy choices and sunk costs.
