I’m really excited to finally share this new edition of the Year 1 Micro Notebook! It's one I've been using for a while and it has become an essential tool in my classroom. My main aim for this edition was for students to be able to use the notebook intuitively, thus reducing the wiggle room students have to not to do the right thing. Now, you'll find QR codes and sections that are much easier to fill out.
Here’s how I typically use it:
Comprehensive Revision: Students fill out the entire notebook before exams, ensuring they've covered everything.
Targeted Intervention: Perfect for addressing specific areas where students need extra help.
However, it is pretty versatile, so there are lots of other ways to use it:
Lesson Summaries: Good for jotting down the key points from each lesson.
Ongoing Revision Notes: Ideal for Year 2 students who want to revisit Year 1 material at their own pace throughout the year.
Flipped Learning: Great for keeping track of what students need to prepare before lessons.
Homework: Assign pages for students to complete after each lesson to reinforce their learning.
Cover Work: Print out sheets for students to review past topics or prep for new ones. You can also hand out the entire booklet at the start of the year so they can work on it whenever you're away.
Distance Learning: Super helpful during the summer holidays or for students who are absent for extended periods.
You can print the pages individually or as a complete booklet. They’re designed to be just the right size to staple with the school’s photocopier. Alternatively, you can hole-punch them and use project folders with prongs.
The download does include suggested answers - they aren't the prettiest but hopefully they'll be useful. This version does not include an interactive digital version or a version with notes pages, as feedback indicated most teachers prefer the printable versions.
If you've already purchased a previous version, drop me an email with the order number and I'll send through the new edition.
