Moral Hazard increasing Opioid Overdoses

There are loads of economic concepts in this tragic article on how widening access to the 'Lazarus Drug' Naloxone (aka Narcan), a drug that aims to mitigate some of the effects of opioid overdose, has resulted in increased opioid overdoses in the US. This is discussed in more depth in this podcast (beware strong language), which also cites examples of going faster because you have a seatbelt, swim out further when there is a lifeguard or play sports more roughly when you are wearing helmets.
